Applications opened 10am, Tuesday 1 September 2026 via SmartyGrants, and closed on Tuesday 13 October 2026. Assessment is now underway. Applicants will be advised of outcomes in December 2026. Successful applicants will have 12 months to dleivery their activities.
$300,000 (GST exculsive) is available across Tasmania, with $100,000 allocated to each region.
Single-region projects can apply for between $10,000 and $30,000.
Projects that benefit more than one region can apply for up to $90,000 (up to $30,000 per region).
Applications will be assessed against three criteria:
- Impact and value for money (50%) — how much the project will improve drought and climate resilience in the region, relative to the funding requested.
- Addressing needs (25%) — how well the project responds to an identified drought and climate resilience gap, including some target projects that will be highlighted in the Guidelines.
- Geographical area (25%) — how much the project benefits an area with an identified drought and climate resilience need.
As part of phase one of the Drought Ready Tas program, a $140,000 grant program was set-up to help eligible Tasmanian Aboriginal organisations kickstart drought and climate resilience actions. Grants of up to $30,000 were available for projects aligning with Tasmania's regional drought resilience plans as well as organisational priorities.
The program was designed to enable Aboriginal-led decision-making on drought and climate priorities, and allowed organisations to engage in their own time.
This grant program is now closed. Projects are being delivered over the next year.
